| All customers who use have their data stored in encrypted form in a secure, monitored data center run by the leader in data storage facilities, Equinix inc. (For more information, go to www.Equinix.com). Equinix data centers are built as Kevlar lined vaults with no single point of failure. Your data is also "mirrored" (in encrypted form) to a second server, to eliminate the risk of server failure. The
PODBI
Secure Data Center is designed to provide
extremely reliable protection for your important
files. The Data Center provides:
Transmission
Checking
utilizes
an extensive array of error checking procedures
to guarantee that there were no transmission
problems to our Secure Data Centers.
The
client software will retransmit any data
packets when transmission errors have been
detected.
Server
Mirroring
The
PODBI Data Center employs two mirrored Secure
Data Servers at all
times. When data arrives at one,
it is simultaneously copied over secure
communication lines to the other. By the
time ’s
client software ends the backup session,
the backup data center has verified that
both copies, one on each redundant machine,
have been successfully created.
RAID5
Redundancy
Raid5
provides additional insurance against data
loss due to disk failure. Each computer
system in the Secure Data Center uses RAID5
storage. Inherent
to RAID5 is built in redundancy, which enables
the system to automatically recover, without
loss of data, from a disk failure.
Of course, there is always the second copy
of the data on the second Secure Data Center
machine.
Redundant
Network Connections
The
PODBI Data Center employs two independent
connections to the Internet. These connections
have hot fail-over capability so that a
network outage on one connection will not
bring down service. The links connect
to hubs that are connected via fiber to
a Verio POP. The POP is connected via a
redundant Cisco 7513s straight to the Verio
gigabit backbone. Our bandwidth is scalable
to very high rates.
Scalability
The Data Center is extremely scalable.
Each pair of data center servers can scale
to handle tens of thousands of users and
many terabytes of data. The scalable architecture
is provided by hierarchical storage management
that supplements hard disk drives with tape
storage. If servers become burdened, new
servers can be brought online quickly and
transparently. In addition, the
data center employs:
•
Backup power
• Very restricted firewall access
• Strictly controlled physical access
